Head of Operations – Facilities Management

About the role

The Head of Operations will have end‑to‑end accountability for delivering facilities management services across the University of Sussex campus, integrating customer‑facing services and operational functions under a single leader. The role sits on the SEF Senior Leadership Team and deputises for the Partnership Director when required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the SEF partnership, ensuring smooth and efficient campus operations.
• Integrate facilities management and customer‑facing services to give each issue a single owner.
• Drive performance improvements across FM functions, delivering enhanced value and service outcomes.

Required profile

• Dynamic FM professional with a proven track record of leading estates and facilities services on either the client or provider side.
• Deep expertise in financial and contract management, performance reporting and long‑term planning.
• Strong commercial and strategic acumen with experience delivering value‑focused improvements.
• Inspirational senior leader capable of motivating large, diverse in‑house teams within a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
