About the role
This internal posting is for a Band 2 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) on Penhow Ward at Royal Gwent Hospital. The role is designed for current staff who are enthusiastic, patient‑centred and eager to develop their clinical skills under the supervision of qualified nurses.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect care to patients during rehabilitation and discharge planning.
- Work under the guidance of a registered nurse or clinical lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care across all shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Maintain accurate patient records and follow care plans.
- Support ward operations on a flexible 12‑hour or three‑shift system.
Required profile
- Current employee of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and committed to patient‑centred care.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and flexible shift patterns.
- Desire to develop skills and undertake further training.
