HR Officer – Day-to-Day HR Management

About the role

Well Placed HR is recruiting an experienced HR Officer for a growing organisation in Cornwall. The role is hands‑on, covering recruitment, employee lifecycle, HR systems, wellbeing and employee relations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day HR function and provide practical support to managers and employees.
• Manage and improve end‑to‑end HR processes, systems and documentation.
• Lead recruitment activities including advertising, candidate management and onboarding.
• Coordinate the employee journey from onboarding through performance reviews to off‑boarding.
• Monitor attendance, absence and performance, identifying trends and actions.
• Administer employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives.
• Advise managers on employee relations, disciplinary and grievance matters.
• Deliver guidance and training to managers on HR processes and people management.
• Maintain HR systems ensuring accurate, up‑to‑date employee data.
• Support development and implementation of HR policies and processes.
• Manage and mentor an HR Administrator/Coordinator.
• Collaborate with the wider management team to foster a positive workplace.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
• Previous hands‑on experience as an HR Officer, HR Manager or similar.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR processes.
• Experience supporting managers with employee‑relations issues.
• Proven track record in recruitment and managing the employee lifecycle.
• Experience with HR systems and administration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
