Immunisation Staff Nurse – Secondary Schools Flu

About the role

This fixed‑term position is based at Ayrshire Central Hospital and involves delivering flu immunisation services to secondary schools across three localities in Ayrshire. You will join an integrated Children and Families Health team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care for children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide flu vaccinations to pupils in secondary schools within the assigned area.
• Maintain accurate immunisation records and follow NHS clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, school staff, and families to promote vaccine uptake.
• Ensure a safe, caring, and respectful environment during all school visits.
• Report any adverse events and contribute to continuous improvement of the immunisation programme.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Experience working with children and families, preferably in community or school settings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Competence in administering vaccinations safely.
• Knowledge of NHS immunisation policies and procedures.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract from 14 September 2026 to 27 November 2026.
• 27.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 09:00‑15:00.
