Interim Managing Director

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Interim Managing Director to lead a manufacturing business in Birmingham through a critical transformation period. This senior, hands‑on assignment will combine strategic direction, operational execution and financial stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Set and deliver the overall business strategy, ensuring alignment with governance and financial frameworks.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership to improve efficiency, output, quality and OTIF performance.
• Hold full P&L responsibility, overseeing forecasting, reporting and robust financial control.
• Drive commercial performance through pricing, customer segmentation and product strategy.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, sustainability, ISO and 45001 standards.
• Represent the business with stakeholders, customers, suppliers and partners.
• Lead, develop and challenge the senior leadership team, fostering a collaborative, values‑led culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Managing Director or equivalent level within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex, end‑to‑end operations and drive performance improvement.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing and product strategy.
• Track record of financial stewardship and P&L ownership.

• Day rate of £600‑£700 (Inside IR35).
