About the role
The Learning Mentor will guide and support learners throughout their learning journey, helping them achieve their goals, stay motivated, and overcome obstacles. This hybrid position works within the Early Years department and collaborates closely with curriculum delivery teams.
Key responsibilities
- Provide information to curriculum teams to match learners with appropriate programmes based on individual needs.
- Facilitate learning support interviews, initial assessments, and Cognassist activities after referrals.
- Identify learners at risk of not achieving and intervene early.
- Maintain accurate records of support activities and update individual learning support plans.
- Deliver one‑to‑one, small‑group, and large‑group learning support as required.
- Encourage independent learning and self‑reliance.
- Offer off‑site support for apprenticeships, work placements, or bespoke programmes.
- Assist the ALS manager with exam adjustment referrals.
- Conduct 12‑weekly and annual reviews for learners with EHCPs.
Required profile
- Level 2/3 Learning Support or mentoring/coaching qualification.
- GCSE (or equivalent) A*‑C in English and Maths.
- L3 teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET).
- Full driving licence.
- Previous experience in mentoring, coaching or counselling within adult education.
- Experience supporting diverse adult learners and maintaining confidential records.
- Knowledge of learner safeguarding and welfare requirements.
