MEP Deputy Design Manager – HS2 Project

About the role

Join the delivery team of HS2, the UK’s flagship high‑speed railway project, as an MEP Deputy Design Manager. You will support the coordination and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design packages from concept through to construction and commissioning, ensuring they meet project standards and are buildable.

Key responsibilities

• Support the management and coordination of MEP design activities across all project stages.
• Assist in delivering design packages to programme milestones, quality standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, architectural and rail disciplines.
• Review design submissions for compliance with specifications, industry standards and statutory regulations.
• Support design assurance, verification and approval processes.
• Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, value‑engineering and risk‑management meetings.
• Monitor design progress, resolve technical issues and ensure constructability.
• Assist with design change management and configuration control.
• Maintain accurate design documentation, reports and project records.
• Build effective relationships with consultants, subcontractors, clients and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an MEP Design, Design Coordination or Design Management role.
• Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong understanding of statutory regulations and industry standards relevant to MEP systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
