Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer

About the role

The Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer will be responsible for maintaining optimal environmental conditions across critical building systems in London and the South East. This hands‑on role involves planned preventative maintenance, reactive call‑outs and breakdown repairs on a variety of air‑conditioning equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair AC units (chillers, CRAC, split, VRV/VRF, FCU, AHU) across multiple sites within agreed timeframes.
• Attend reactive call‑outs and undertake proactive maintenance tasks identified across the account.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to site schedules and asset lists.
• Complete all paperwork, F‑Gas records and logbooks promptly for PPM, reactive and breakdown work.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety processes, including dynamic risk assessments and lone‑working procedures.
• Maintain spare‑part inventories, provide parts lists and timescales for remedial works.
• Support the Client Supervisor with time and material estimates and quotation details.
• Uphold contractual KPIs, SLAs and out‑of‑hours call‑out rota obligations.

Required profile

• NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Level 3 preferred).
• Fully qualified F‑Gas Engineer (C&G 2079 Category 1).
• Formal training in an Electrical, Mechanical or Air‑Conditioning/Refrigeration discipline.
• Proven experience in fault finding, maintenance and repair of a wide range of AC equipment.
• Good written and spoken English and basic maths skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of chillers, CRAC units, split‑type AC, VRV/VRF systems, fan‑coil units (FCU) and air handling units (AHU).
• Ability to diagnose faults using graphical information and alarm data.
• F‑Gas handling and certification (Category 1).
• Use of specialist meters and PAT‑tested tools.
• Estimation of time and material requirements for maintenance tasks.
