Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician Apprentice

About the role

This two‑year apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with study to achieve a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification. Working under the supervision of registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, you will rotate through all core areas of a hospital pharmacy.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with medicines receipt, storage, distribution and dispensing.
• Maintain stock control, support ordering and conduct environmental monitoring.
• Use pharmacy IT systems to dispense prescriptions accurately and support ward‑based medicines management.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Good Distribution Practice and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Participate in safe disposal of medicines and record‑keeping activities.

Required profile

• Enthusiasm for a career in pharmacy and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow detailed procedures.
• Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English (if required).
• Commitment to complete the apprenticeship and register with the GPhC.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with pharmacy IT systems.
