Primary SENCO – Lead SEND Provision in Manchester

About the role
The Primary SENCO will lead and develop SEND provision across a multi‑academy trust in Manchester. This full‑time, non‑class‑based position starts in September and offers the chance to shape inclusive education for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage SEND provision across all schools in the trust.
- Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
- Support and advise teaching staff on effective SEND strategies and adaptive teaching.
- Coordinate EHCPs, annual reviews and targeted interventions.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Monitor pupil progress and implement strategies to improve achievement.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on SEND best practice.
- Promote an inclusive, supportive and high‑achieving learning environment.
- Maintain safeguarding procedures at all times.
Required profile
- Qualified SENCO (or equivalent) with experience in primary or secondary education.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- Strong collaborative skills with senior leaders, teachers and external professionals.
- Excellent knowledge of statutory SEND requirements and best practice.
