Principal Clinical Psychologist

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join its Clinical Health Psychology Service at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This permanent position works 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for job‑share arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for patients with long‑term physical health conditions across general medicine specialties such as diabetes, oncology, renal, gastroenterology and respiratory.
• Deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions for individuals experiencing persistent pain within the specialist pain management service.
• Collaborate as an integral member of multidisciplinary teams that include nursing, medical and allied health professionals.
• Contribute to service development, clinical supervision and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Clinical Psychologist with HCPC.
• Extensive experience in health psychology and pain management.
• Commitment to NHS values of caring, safety and respect.
• UK driving licence preferred.
