Refugee Employability Officer – Fixed‑Term (until June 2027)

About the role

The Refugee Employability Officer will deliver tailored employability support to resettled refugees in Hampshire, helping them overcome barriers and achieve sustainable economic independence. Working within the IRC UK Resettlement and Integration Service, you will guide individuals through job search, interview preparation, and connections to training or self‑employment opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group‑based employability coaching aligned with Individual Support Plans.
• Assist clients with CV writing, job applications, and interview techniques.
• Explain UK workplace expectations and help navigate employer expectations.
• Engage with local employers to create job opportunities and raise awareness of refugee talent.
• Link clients to relevant training programmes, apprenticeships, and self‑employment resources.
• Collaborate closely with integration officers, ESOL teachers, and employment caseworkers to ensure coordinated support.

Required profile

• Passionate, solutions‑driven individual committed to humanitarian impact.
• Experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, or other vulnerable groups.
• Understanding of the UK labour market and barriers faced by newcomers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build trust with diverse clients.
