About the role
The Secretariat Officer provides essential secretariat support for the Legal Aid Agency’s senior governance forums, including the Board and Executive Committee. Working within the Corporate Assurance, Risk and Secretariat (CARS) team, the role sits at the heart of the Agency, interacting regularly with the Executive Leadership Team and handling high‑profile issues.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver secretariat services for senior governance meetings such as the LAA Board and Executive Committee.
- Prepare agendas, minutes, and supporting documentation for governance forums.
- Coordinate with the Head of Assurance and other CARS functions to ensure alignment of risk, health & safety, data security and business continuity activities.
- Manage a variable workload, prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Provide administrative support to senior leaders and act as a point of contact for governance‑related enquiries.
Required profile
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, preferably within the civil service or a large public‑sector organisation.
- Ability to interact professionally with senior executives and handle confidential information.
- Eligibility to work for the Civil Service; current LAA staff may only apply for specific locations (London, Cambridge, Brighton) as per the Agency’s location strategy.
- Flexibility to work across any LAA office in England and Wales.
