SEN Teaching Assistant (Reception Class)

About the role

Veritas Education is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Burnley to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a Reception class. The role focuses on supporting a young child with additional needs to integrate successfully, aiding both learning and social development throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs within Reception.
• Support the child's transition and integration into the classroom environment.
• Encourage communication, social interaction and independence.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies.
• Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Support learning through play and child‑led activities in line with the EYFS framework.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children with SEN.
• Early Years background in a nursery, preschool or Reception setting.
• A calm, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualifications (desirable but not essential).
