Senior Climate & Nature Litigation Lawyer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a litigator to join our small, high‑impact team working on international strategic climate and nature litigation. The role is fully remote and supports our Forest Litigation Collaborative and Litigation for Nature programmes, aiming to protect and restore wild ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day legal challenges, track deadlines and coordinate with external counsel and partner NGOs.
• Draft pre‑action correspondence, legal submissions and formal complaints to authorities.
• Conduct legal research and keep up‑to‑date with UK and EU legislation and policy relevant to strategic litigation.
• Analyse legislative developments, contribute to consultation responses and produce technical guidance for NGOs.
• Identify and develop new strategic litigation opportunities in collaboration with partner NGOs.
• Assist senior lawyers in shaping litigation strategy and sourcing funding opportunities.
• Support external engagement activities such as press coverage, presentations, events and written outputs.
• Supervise trainees and volunteers within the litigation team.
• Prepare litigation‑related reporting for funders.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in environmental or strategic litigation.
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation and policy.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines, coordinate with external counsel and NGOs, and handle correspondence.
• Excellent legal drafting skills for pre‑action letters, submissions and complaints.
• Skilled in legal research, policy analysis and producing technical guidance.
• Experience collaborating with NGOs and contributing to litigation strategy development.
• Ability to supervise trainees/volunteers and produce clear reporting.
