Housing & Civil Litigation Lawyer – Hybrid, London

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Housing and Civil Litigation Lawyer to join a busy London council legal team. The role offers a hybrid working pattern, varied casework and genuine career development within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and manage housing and civil litigation matters such as homelessness, possession, injunctions, disrepair and general civil claims.
• Provide clear, practical legal advice to local authorities, schools and other public‑law clients.
• Attend meetings and represent the council in court as required.
• Deputise for senior colleagues when needed.
• Mentor, train and support less‑experienced team members.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEx member with litigation and advocacy rights and a current practising certificate.
• Ability to work full‑time on a hybrid basis (two days in‑office) and attend court.
• Experience in housing law and civil litigation; local‑authority experience is a plus.
• Part‑time arrangements may be considered (minimum three days per week).
