Senior Construction Underwriter – Property & Construction Insurance

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Construction Underwriter to join a fast‑growing specialist in property and construction insurance. The role will focus on Latent Defect and Structural Warranty Insurance, driving new business and shaping underwriting strategy while working remotely from London.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new business as a trading underwriter for construction clients.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, developers and key stakeholders.
• Support the creation of underwriting guidelines, pricing models and strategy.
• Identify market opportunities and contribute to portfolio growth.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and monitor portfolio performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver a coordinated underwriting approach.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a trading underwriting role with a strong new‑business focus.
• Background in construction or property insurance, preferably in Latent Defect or Structural Warranty lines.
• Commercial mindset and proactive, results‑driven attitude.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Relevant qualifications such as ACII are desirable.

Required skills

• Technical underwriting and risk assessment expertise.
• Knowledge of Latent Defect and Structural Warranty insurance products.
