Senior Quantity Surveyor – Mechanical Services (London)

About the role

Southwark Council is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with specialist expertise in mechanical services to lead commercial management of its large heating, water and energy contracts. The role is permanent, offers work‑from‑home flexibility and supports the delivery of safe, compliant infrastructure for thousands of residents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial control and assurance for major heating & water contracts (total annual value > £20 m).
• Manage district heating improvement programmes and building energy management systems.
• Oversee gas landlord safety inspections, heating repairs, installations and maintenance.
• Supervise water quality testing, treatment and related mechanical plant servicing.
• Coordinate 24/7 critical response services and ensure statutory compliance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in quantity surveying within the construction or public sector.
• Proven track record managing high‑value mechanical services contracts.
• Strong understanding of heating, water and energy systems and related regulations.
• Ability to lead a team and work with internal and external stakeholders.
