Site Manager – Fit‑out & Minor Building Projects

About the role

The WorkSpace team, a specialist division of McLaughlin & Harvey, is looking for Site Managers to lead fit‑out and minor building work projects across the UK and Ireland. The position starts as a six‑month fixed‑term contract with the potential to become permanent, offering the chance to work on a variety of innovative spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Understand building contracts and manage relationships with clients, design teams and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee sub‑contractor scopes, review contract orders and coordinate with the Project Manager and PQS.
• Issue and close permits for works, including road openings, skips, welfare facilities and utility connections.
• Arrange material and equipment orders in liaison with the Quantity Surveyor.
• Manage utility diversions, upgrades and protection works through meetings with utility providers.
• Raise Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any quality issues and ensure corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site management for fit‑out or minor construction projects.
• Strong commercial awareness of building contracts and stakeholder management.
• Ability to handle permit applications and coordinate with highways and utility authorities.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Knowledge of building contract types and sub‑contractor management.
• Experience with permit application processes for highways and utilities.
• Familiarity with material/equipment procurement and quantity surveying liaison.
