Sommelier – Luxury Hotel

About the role

Grantley Hall, a five‑star luxury hotel in the North Yorkshire countryside, is seeking a dedicated Sommelier to lead its wine programme. You will be responsible for curating a cellar of over 300 wines, delivering exceptional wine service, and supporting the restaurant team.

Key responsibilities

• Create, purchase and manage a cellar of 300+ wines.
• Inspire and train staff using your wine knowledge.
• Assist with food service alongside the restaurant team when needed.
• Maintain the highest standards of wine and drinks service.
• Recommend food and wine pairings to guests.
• Deliver wine events and tastings.
• Manage cellar stock distribution and ownership.
• Drive sales to maximise restaurant profit.

Required profile

• Team player with previous experience as a sommelier.
• Passionate about delivering top‑level guest service.
• Professional wine decanting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and strong attention to detail.
• Well‑presented and courteous.
• Qualified to Level 2 WSET or CMS.

Required skills

• WSET Level 2 certification.
• CMS qualification.
• Wine decanting technique.
