Temporary SEND Teacher – Specialist School in Rochdale

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a qualified SEND teacher for a temporary supply position at a specialist school in Rochdale. The role runs from September 2026, covering a short‑term sickness absence, and involves teaching a Key Stage 3 class with autism, SEMH and other emotional and behavioural needs. The position is full‑time (8.30 am‑3.30 pm) with part‑time options considered for a minimum of three days.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver imaginative, adapted lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with complex SEND profiles.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents and teaching assistants to support pupil progress.
• Direct and mentor teaching assistants, ensuring effective classroom management and support.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Recent experience teaching 11‑16‑year‑olds with SEND, preferably in autism or SEMH settings.
• Emotional and physical resilience to work with pupils who have complex communication, behavioural and medical needs.
