Tenancy Sustainment Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to provide practical advice, early intervention and coordinated support to residents facing financial hardship or tenancy risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide welfare benefits and tenancy sustainment support, focusing on Universal Credit.
• Meet residents in homes, office or by phone to assess circumstances and deliver appropriate assistance.
• Complete detailed income and expenditure assessments, identifying benefits and additional income sources.
• Develop and implement tailored action plans, including support with Universal Credit housing costs and benefit appeals.
• Review support plans regularly and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies.
• Manage a caseload effectively while meeting individual and team targets.

Required profile

• Experience delivering welfare benefits advice, especially Universal Credit.
• Background supporting people experiencing financial hardship or tenancy risk.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across multiple channels.
• Experience working with diverse communities and varied circumstances.
• Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues, partners and support agencies.
• Strong organisational skills to manage caseloads and achieve targets.

What we offer

• Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per year.
• Full‑time permanent contract.
• Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
• 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
