Vehicle Maintenance Technician – Fleet Operations

About the role

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician will support the service, maintenance and repair of Santander Consumer Finance's fleet, ensuring vehicles are managed efficiently and to the highest standard. You will help minimise downtime, control costs and deliver an excellent experience for both clients and end‑user drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Customer Operations Manager and contribute to the smooth operation of the Fleet Control department.
• Manage, query and approve maintenance authorisation requests via 1Link, phone and email.
• Apply the most cost‑effective solutions in line with client or product specifications.
• Provide best‑in‑class customer service to drivers and fleet contacts.
• Investigate and resolve client or driver issues and queries.
• Communicate bookings, updates and responses via phone and email.

Required profile

• Vehicle maintenance or workshop experience (essential).
• Experience in customer service or operations within the automotive sector.
• Understanding of general automotive repair standards and legal requirements.
• Demonstrated adherence to SLAs and high productivity levels.
• Experience with automotive repair and maintenance systems such as 1Link or Autodata (desirable).
• NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Light Vehicle) or City & Guilds equivalent (desirable).
