AAT Qualified Accounts Assistant

About the role

TPF Recruitment is partnering with a growing independent accountancy practice in Weybridge to hire an Accounts Assistant. This permanent full‑time role offers the chance to develop practical accounting experience within a supportive, structured environment and work with a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bookkeeping records and VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Assist with the preparation of year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare Self Assessment tax returns and support other personal tax compliance work.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information, answer queries and provide ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate financial records using cloud accounting software.
• Support senior team members with ad‑hoc accounting assignments, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Required profile

• A relevant qualification such as AAT Level 4, or be on an ACCA/ACA apprenticeship.
• Previous experience in a UK‑based accountancy practice.
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and accounting software.
• Proactive, organised and detail‑oriented approach to work.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently to deadlines.
• Friendly, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ambition to develop a career within accountancy.
