Academy Head of Finance

About the role

The Academy Trust in North London is seeking a senior finance professional to lead its financial function. Reporting to the Director of Finance and working closely with the board, you will shape financial strategy, ensure compliance and provide clear financial insight to support decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage budget setting, forecasting and monthly management accounts across the trust.
• Ensure full compliance with the Academy Trust Handbook and statutory financial returns.
• Oversee financial controls, procurement and value‑for‑money initiatives across all sites.
• Lead, develop and line‑manage the finance team.
• Provide accurate financial information and advice to senior leadership and trustees.
• Manage cash flow, payroll oversight and pension scheme administration.
• Support the preparation of the integrated curriculum and financial plan.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA).
• Proven experience in finance within an academy or multi‑academy trust, preferably at Business Partner, Finance Manager or Head of Finance level.
• Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels and communicate complex financial data to non‑financial audiences.
