Accounts Assistant – Northumberland

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our client’s finance team in Northumberland. This permanent, full‑time position offers a supportive environment where you will handle a range of accounting and credit control tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the cash book, record receipts and payments, and reconcile daily with bank statements using SAP.
• Reconcile sales ledger accounts and produce related statements and reports.
• Process supplier invoices, manage purchase ledger, organise BACS payments and produce remittances.
• Handle credit applications, monitor outstanding debts and prepare solicitor letters where required.
• Perform monthly accounts reconciliation, post expenses and manage petty cash vouchers.
• Process credit card transactions, allocate cost centres and reimburse non‑company expenses.
• Answer telephone queries and support the financial controller with ad‑hoc duties.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in accounting or credit control.
• AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification.
• Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
