Accounts Director

About the role

A well‑established accountancy practice in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Accounts Director to join its senior leadership team. This role offers a clear route towards partnership for an ambitious ACA or ACCA qualified professional looking to move beyond a senior manager or associate director position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, SMEs and larger privately owned organisations.
• Oversee delivery of accounts, year‑end compliance and broader business advisory work.
• Act as senior point of contact for clients, building long‑term relationships and providing commercial and strategic advice.
• Review accounts to ensure high technical standards and mentor members of the accounts team.
• Identify opportunities to broaden client relationships, introduce additional services and support business development.
• Collaborate with partners and senior team members on practice growth and internal process improvement.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, currently at Senior Manager, Associate Director or Director level within an accountancy practice.
• Strong background in practice accounting with experience managing a varied client portfolio.
• Proven ability to review accounts, provide strategic advice and develop client relationships.
• Commercially minded with interest in business development and growing client bases.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior and qualified staff.
• Ambitious, motivated and focused on progressing to partnership.
