Alternative Provision Teacher – Behaviour/SEMH Specialist

About the role
We are seeking a confident, empathetic specialist teacher to join an internal Alternative Provision (AP) team in Manchester. The role focuses on supporting students with behaviour, social‑emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ensuring they receive high‑quality education in a caring environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored lessons and interventions for students with behaviour and SEMH challenges.
- Collaborate closely with parents, teachers, senior leaders, and external agencies.
- Track and monitor attendance, progress data and other key metrics.
- Act as a positive role model and build strong relationships with pupils.
- Contribute to the AP curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred; training available if not held.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with SEMH or barriers to learning.
- Patience, empathy, resilience and a firm but fair approach.
- Ability to work effectively within a school setting during term time.
Required skills
What we offer
- Long‑term temporary contract with the possibility of permanent placement after 12 weeks.
- Full‑time, Monday‑Friday school hours with an early finish on Fridays.
- Support from the school and Aspire People, including DBS check and safeguarding training.
- Competitive daily rate of £150‑£220.
