Application Development & Support Manager – Core Banking

About the role

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation to find an Application Development & Support Manager. The role will oversee delivery, support and continuous improvement of core banking applications, ensuring high availability and performance. You will lead a team while managing change delivery and day‑to‑day support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oversight of core banking systems, including environment management, patching and end‑of‑day processing.
• Lead and develop a team of application developers and support analysts.
• Manage application support incidents with a focus on root‑cause analysis.
• Oversee delivery of projects and enhancements from design through to BAU transition.
• Ensure performance optimisation, system monitoring and platform stability.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on platform performance, backup and recovery.
• Drive best practices across development, testing and deployment.
• Maintain compliance with security, audit and regulatory standards.
• Act as liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders and third‑party vendors.
• Manage budgets and resource planning for support and enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing application support and development teams.
• Background supporting core banking platforms, preferably Finastra Equation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage vendor relationships and third‑party support.
• Experience working in ITIL‑based support environments with defined SLAs.

Required skills

• Finastra Equation (core banking platform).
• IBM Power Systems and LPAR management.
• Backup and recovery tools such as BRMS.
• ITIL framework and SLA management.
• Application security, compliance and audit knowledge.
