Application Engineer - APS/MES

About the role

Simulation Solutions Ltd. is a reseller of engineering software, supporting customers across automotive, aerospace, defence, food & beverage and other manufacturing sectors. The Application Engineer will focus on Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), combining customer‑facing activities with hands‑on configuration and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the subject‑matter expert for APS and MES toolsets.
• Deliver technical demonstrations of software to customers.
• Scope project work technically for each client.
• Develop and implement APS and MES solutions.
• Provide technical support and resolve customer queries.
• Train and onboard customers on the systems.
• Visit customer sites occasionally as required.

Required profile

• Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or relevant HND with industry experience.
• 3–5 years’ experience in planning, scheduling or manufacturing execution systems.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Knowledge of text‑based, PLC or low‑code programming.
• Experience in manufacturing and logistics environments.
• Excellent communication and a positive attitude.
• Ability to prioritise, work autonomously and pay attention to detail.

What we offer

• Salary between £35,000 and £45,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Remote working with occasional travel to the Manchester office.
• 20 days holiday plus a 4‑day Christmas closure.
