Application Support Engineer – eTrading (Contract, Inside IR35)

About the role

This contract role supports mission‑critical rates and credit electronic trading systems for a leading global investment bank. You will work within a Front Office‑aligned production support team, ensuring stability, performance and availability of complex trading environments across Europe, North America and Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support for production trading environments.
• Monitor platform health, capacity and performance.
• Manage incidents, perform troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Coordinate production changes, releases and upgrades.
• Support connectivity to exchanges, ECNs, brokers and market‑data providers.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve resilience and performance.
• Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors on production activities.
• Own key applications and act as the technical expert for supported systems.
• Maintain and improve operational documentation and support procedures.

Required profile

• Strong Linux and Windows administration experience.
• Background supporting front‑office or electronic trading applications.
• Excellent troubleshooting across CPU, memory, networking and system performance.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Shell, PowerShell, SQL).
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
• Good understanding of servers, networking and firewall infrastructure.
• Experience supporting Java, C++ or .NET applications.
• Effective incident management and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work under pressure and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
