Apprentice Building Manager

About the role

This 24‑month apprenticeship combines hands‑on facilities management duties with the Level 4 Facilities Manager Apprenticeship, giving you structured, work‑based learning at Global University Systems.

Key responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for facilities enquiries, delivering a professional service to students, staff and visitors.
• Support day‑to‑day operation of campus buildings, including cleaning, security, reception, maintenance and waste management.
• Respond to reactive facilities issues, coordinate contractors and escalations.
• Conduct regular building inspections, identify risks or defects and ensure corrective actions.
• Assist with health, safety and compliance activities such as audits, risk assessments and statutory testing.
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, quality, safety and value for money.
• Support budgets, quotations, purchase orders, invoicing and operational reporting.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives like energy efficiency and waste reduction.

Required profile

• Eligibility for apprenticeship funding (resident in England, able to work ≥30 hours/week).
• Experience in facilities, property, estates, building services or a related operational environment.
• Professional experience dealing with customers, contractors or suppliers.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with accurate record‑keeping.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with diverse stakeholders.
