Area Sales Manager – Building & Plumbing Tools

About the role

This is a field‑based sales position focused on mid‑market hand tools for the building trade. You will be responsible for growing sales across independent builders merchants, plumbing merchants, DIY & hardware stores and other independent retailers in the London area.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 accounts and achieve a turnover target of around £550k.
• Promote and sell a distributed range of building and plumbing tools, with typical order values of £350.
• Develop new independent retail customers, overseeing a 2‑3 month onboarding process.
• Maintain strong relationships with merchants and provide product training as required.
• Report sales performance and forecast to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven field‑sales experience selling to independent merchants.
• Ability to work independently with a “roll‑up‑sleeves” attitude.
• Comfortable travelling across the assigned area and meeting customers on‑site.
• Strong commercial awareness and a focus on achieving sales targets.

Required skills

• IT proficiency and basic computer literacy.

What we offer

• Base salary £35,000‑£40,000 per year plus uncapped commission.
