Art, DT and Food Technician – Secondary School (Hackney)

About the role

This full‑time position supports the Art, Design Technology and Food Technology departments of a high‑achieving secondary academy in Hackney. You will ensure practical lessons run smoothly by preparing spaces, equipment and resources each day.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare classrooms, workshops and kitchens for practical lessons.
• Set up and maintain equipment, tools and teaching resources.
• Monitor stock levels and order materials as needed.
• Assist teachers and students during practical sessions.
• Clean, organise and maintain workspaces to health and safety standards.
• Manage specialist tools, machinery and food‑preparation resources.
• Support the creation of student displays and exhibitions.

Required profile

• Experience as an Art, DT and Food Technician or in a similar school‑based role.
• Preferably worked within a secondary school environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and students.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Reliable, proactive and practical approach.
• Available to start full‑time from 2 September and travel daily to Hackney.
