Art Teacher – Maternity Cover (SEMH School)

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to provide maternity cover for Terms 1 and 2 at a specialist SEMH school in Canterbury. The role is four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) and focuses on KS3 and KS4 students.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Art lessons.
- Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage classroom behaviour positively and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, marking and administrative duties.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching Art at secondary level.
- Strong classroom management and a calm, resilient approach.
- Passion for fostering confidence, creativity and self‑expression in young people.
- Experience with SEMH or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
