Aspiring Psychologist – SEN Teaching Assistant (Croydon)

About the role

We are looking for an aspiring psychologist to join a specialist special school in Croydon as a SEN Teaching Assistant. This temporary-to-permanent position offers hands‑on experience supporting children with complex additional needs while you build a foundation for a future career in psychology, therapy, or mental health.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Assist small groups with learning activities and engagement.
• Support teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and development.
• Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or recent graduate aspiring psychologist.
• Passionate about child development and SEN support.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient.
• Experience in a school, care, support or youth setting (desirable).
• Willingness to commit to a full‑time role in South London.
