Aspiring Psychologist – SEN Teaching Assistant (Croydon)

About the role
We are looking for an aspiring psychologist to join a specialist special school in Croydon as a SEN Teaching Assistant. This temporary-to-permanent position offers hands‑on experience supporting children with complex additional needs while you build a foundation for a future career in psychology, therapy, or mental health.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
- Assist small groups with learning activities and engagement.
- Support teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and development.
- Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times.
Required profile
- Undergraduate or recent graduate aspiring psychologist.
- Passionate about child development and SEN support.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient.
- Experience in a school, care, support or youth setting (desirable).
- Willingness to commit to a full‑time role in South London.
