Assistant Buyer

About the role

Mountain Warehouse is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Buyer to support the buying team across key territories including the UK, EU, NA, NZ and AUS. You will work closely with the Head of Buying to develop profitable ranges and ensure timely delivery of merchandise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in seasonal range planning by analysing customer buying patterns, forecasting sales and presenting findings.
• Buy for key territories, managing the critical path from product development to delivery.
• Review stock, sales and orders regularly to meet sales, stock and profit targets.
• Maintain supplier relationships and liaise with internal departments to complete projects.
• Participate in promotional activities, identify slow‑moving stock and coordinate clearance events.
• Create style books, manage sample processes and approve lab dips, trims and shipments.

Required profile

• Relevant experience at Senior BAA or Assistant Buyer level within a retail environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
• Commercial awareness of market trends, competitor activity and customer needs.
• Excellent time‑management and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel‑based forecasting and ratio calculations.
