Assistant Financial Accountant – 6‑Month Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

A fast‑growing technology platform is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join its expanding finance team on a six‑month contract. The role supports the finance function during a period of rapid growth, offering a great opportunity for a part‑qualified accountant to develop technical skills in a modern, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Support month‑end close activities.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing as required.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register.
• Prepare VAT workings and assist with other regulatory returns.
• Help produce schedules for external auditors.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity across finance systems.
• Support process improvements as the finance team scales.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified ACCA, CIMA or AAT (or actively studying towards a professional qualification).
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role.
• Good understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping and month‑end processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Proactive attitude with willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
