Assistant Management Accountant 12 month FTC

About the role

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant within a well‑established retail business. Based in Leeds, you will support financial reporting, analysis and supplier rebate processes while working closely with the Finance Director and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journals, manage accruals and pre‑payments, reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end reporting, maintain nominal ledger integrity and assist with financial analysis.
• Own supplier rebate accounting – calculate, monitor and reconcile rebate income, collaborate with operational and commercial teams to ensure accurate claims and resolve discrepancies.
• Provide day‑to‑day finance support to the Finance Director, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of accruals, pre‑payments, journal postings, bank reconciliations and month‑end processes.
• Experience handling supplier rebate accounting.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and spreadsheet proficiency.
• Use of integrated accounting systems such as Intact or similar ERP.
• AAT qualification or progress towards a professional accounting qualification.
