Assistant Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Manager to help deliver memorable guest experiences at The Wellington Hotel, a historic coaching inn in Boscastle, Cornwall. You will motivate a passionate team, support daily operations, and step in for the General Manager when required.

Key responsibilities

• Take charge of the hotel in the General Manager’s absence, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Welcome guests warmly and maintain high standards of service throughout their stay.
• Monitor customer feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Support Front‑of‑House and Back‑of‑House teams during peak periods.
• Oversee the consistent production of quality food and collaborate with the Kitchen Team.
• Manage administrative and cash‑handling systems accurately.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Act as a role model, providing guidance and development opportunities for staff.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a similar hospitality management role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognise when team members need support.
• Thorough knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Leadership qualities with a focus on staff development.
• Aspirations to progress to a General Manager position.
