Assistant Psychologist - Critical Care Health Psychology

About the role

Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Band 5 Assistant Psychologist to join its developing Critical Care Psychology Service. The post supports the psychological care of patients, families and staff across the critical care pathway, working in a multidisciplinary team across four hospital sites in West Wales. It suits someone wanting clinical experience in critical care psychology, with strong links to the regional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of psychological services for patients, families and staff across the critical care pathway, under the supervision of the Critical Care Psychologist.
• Contribute to psychological assessment and support for patients recovering from critical illness and their relatives, during hospital admission and after discharge.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote psychologically informed care and support staff wellbeing.
• Contribute to service development, audit, evaluation and quality improvement projects.

• Strong empathic listening abilities.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team, well organised and adaptable.
• Commitment to high-quality, person-centred care in a busy healthcare environment.
• Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
• Non-UK and non-Irish citizens need sponsorship (Health and Care or Skilled Worker visa) unless they have another route to work.
