Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Healthcare Project

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a £7m healthcare project in Portsmouth. Reporting to the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director, you will support commercial management including procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, cost control and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with procurement processes for the project.
• Support subcontractor management and coordination.
• Prepare valuations and manage variations.
• Monitor cost control and track project budgets.
• Generate commercial reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure commercial compliance.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or in a commercial construction role.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (desirable).
• Understanding of construction drawings, procurement and subcontract management.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts (desirable).
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Good numerical, organisational and communication abilities.
• Ambitious, proactive and keen to develop a career in construction.
