Associate Director – Healthcare Architecture

About the role
We are seeking an Associate Director to lead our Healthcare Architecture practice within our London studio. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on design, ensuring high‑quality, compliant solutions for complex healthcare projects.
Key responsibilities
- Manage project teams to achieve business and project targets for the studio and wider practice.
- Lead design development of healthcare projects, embracing the company’s “Better by Design” philosophy.
- Foster a creative environment to maintain robust design quality across all projects.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety requirements, and project governance.
- Prepare presentation drawings, concept development, and design outputs, guiding team members.
- Produce detailed design drawings, schedules, specifications, and 2D/3D outputs using CAD and BIM.
- Source technical information, evaluate buildability, prepare risk assessments and conduct cost/benefit analyses.
- Prepare tender reports and recommendations in line with QM procedures.
- Coordinate effectively with consultants, statutory bodies, clients, and internal teams.
- Deliver presentations and manage meetings with confidence.
- Maintain strong client relationships, support client satisfaction monitoring, and resolve issues.
- Contribute to business development and new‑business bidding aligned with studio goals.
- Promote a positive team culture through leadership, coaching, and people management.
Required profile
- Professionally qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., RIBA, MCIAT).
- Significant experience managing project design teams with a proven track record.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Confidence in managing budgets and controlling project expenditure.
- Experience contributing to business development activities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead others effectively.
- Competent in preparing and delivering presentations and managing meetings.
