Associate Director, Healthcare (Architecture)

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Director to lead our Healthcare studio in London. The role sits at the heart of a leading architectural practice, driving design excellence and business growth across a portfolio of healthcare projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multidisciplinary project teams to meet business and project targets.
• Lead design development, applying the “Better by Design” philosophy.
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety and governance standards.
• Prepare presentation drawings, concept designs and detailed 2D/3D outputs using CAD and BIM tools.
• Source technical information, assess buildability and conduct cost‑benefit analyses.
• Coordinate with consultants, statutory bodies, clients and internal teams.
• Deliver client presentations, manage meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
• Contribute to business development, bidding for new work and supporting studio growth.
• Foster a positive team culture through leadership, coaching and performance development.

Required profile

• Professional qualification in architecture or related discipline (e.g., RIBA, MCIAT).
• Significant experience managing design teams on complex projects.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and budget management skills.
• Proven involvement in business development activities.
• Ability to work independently and lead others with confidence.
• Excellent presentation and meeting facilitation abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Advanced knowledge of Revit.
• Experience using BIM workflows.
