Associate/VP Credit Repo Trader – Global Securities Finance

About the role

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is seeking an entrepreneurial Credit Repo Trader to build and develop a dedicated Credit Repo franchise within its global Securities Finance business. The role combines trading, client engagement and franchise development across Investment Grade, High Yield and Emerging Market credit.

Key responsibilities

• Execute repo and reverse repo transactions, deliver financing solutions and develop short‑covering capabilities for hard‑currency securities.
• Develop relationships with hedge funds, asset managers, banks and broker‑dealers, identifying financing opportunities and converting them into sustainable client activity.
• Improve utilisation of credit inventory across desks and regions, support internal and external short‑cover requirements and optimise balance‑sheet, collateral and liquidity resources.
• Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Treasury, Legal and Compliance to expand the Credit Repo franchise in a controlled manner and contribute ideas that enhance competitiveness.

Required profile

• Experience in repo, securities finance, fixed‑income financing, credit trading or related markets activity.
• In‑depth understanding of financing markets, collateralised products and risk management.
• Proven client‑facing experience with hedge funds, asset managers or banks.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong commercial instincts, entrepreneurial mindset and disciplined risk approach.
