Audit and Accounts Senior

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based onsite in Sunderland and involves preparing and auditing accounts for a diverse client base, including limited companies, charities, partnerships and sole traders across the North East.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end accounts using Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and other client systems.
• Compile corporation tax computations and VAT returns.
• Respond to queries from accounts and tax managers and finalise accounts after client meetings.
• Lead audit assignments, covering planning, fieldwork and completion, including specialist audits such as SAR and charity audits.
• Supervise, train and mentor junior staff members.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or AAT qualified or a finalist, or qualified by experience.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an accounting practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of current legislation and statutory auditing.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets, with proactive client service.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence (preferred).
