Azure Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure (Hybrid, London)

About the role

Bench IT is seeking an Azure Engineer to help transition the organisation to a cloud‑first operating model. The role will be hybrid, with 2‑3 days per week in London, and will focus on designing, implementing and managing Azure‑based infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and operate Azure infrastructure and platform services.
• Implement and support Azure‑native solutions such as PaaS, Azure Backup, monitoring and Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Configure and maintain Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs and hybrid connectivity (VPN/ExpressRoute).
• Manage identity and access using Entra ID and RBAC.
• Automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform).
• Develop scripts in PowerShell, Bash or Python for operational tasks.
• Monitor performance and availability with Azure Monitor and set up alerting.
• Contribute to cost optimisation and cloud financial management.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure, platform services and networking.
• Familiarity with IaC tools (Bicep, ARM, Terraform) and scripting languages.
• Experience with Azure identity, access management and hybrid connectivity.
• Understanding of monitoring, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity in Azure.
