Blue Planet Data Management Lead

About the role

Ciena is seeking a senior leader to define and own the data strategy, architecture, and productization for its Blue Planet portfolio. The role will shape the canonical telco data model and drive the creation of scalable digital twin capabilities that enable next‑generation network operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the canonical telco data model and ontology across topology, service lifecycle, inventory, assurance, and OSS domains.
• Align data models with industry standards such as TM Forum Open APIs, SID/eTOM, Open Digital Architecture, YANG/NETCONF, and TOSCA.
• Lead the design of a data‑fabric product architecture, including federated access, streaming pipelines, virtualization, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
• Translate data‑architecture vision into cloud‑native, micro‑services implementations in partnership with engineering teams.
• Develop and execute the telco digital twin strategy, covering use cases like network optimization, predictive maintenance, and simulation.
• Engage customers, partners, and industry forums to validate solutions, influence standards, and position the portfolio.

Required profile

• 15+ years in telecom software, with at least 5 years in product line management.
• Hands‑on experience with telecom data modeling, ontology or graph structures, and enterprise data‑management tools.
• Background in OSS environments (network automation, orchestration, inventory, assurance).
• Proven track record introducing complex technical products into Tier‑1 CSP or network‑provider environments.
