Building Surveyor

About the role

Our client, a growing construction and property services business, is looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Insurance and Minor Works division. You will manage domestic and commercial insurance reinstatement and small-to-medium construction projects from initial survey through to completion across Northern England and occasionally Southern Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site inspections and building surveys across the region.
• Produce schedules of work, specifications, quotations and cost estimates.
• Prepare valuations and project cost plans and manage project budgets.
• Liaise with clients, insurers, loss adjusters and subcontractors to agree scopes and variations.
• Monitor progress, ensure programmes are met and maintain health‑ and safety compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to operational teams and support KPI achievement.
• Manage subcontractor quotations, appointments and performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or Construction Manager.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, repair techniques and contract administration.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commercial awareness with solid cost‑control skills.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities.
